PermaLink Vista - seven versions - one missing
Via J-Walk.

Thurrott claims that there will be seven different versions of Windows Vista. Apparently, Microsoft's new tactic is to confuse the marketplace as much as possible, and hope that people will buy a more expensive version than they really need. They are:
  • Windows Vista Starter Edition
  • Windows Vista Home Basic Edition
  • Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
  • Windows Vista Professional Edition
  • Windows Vista Small Business Edition
  • Windows Vista Enterprise Edition
  • Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

They forgot one.

  • Windows Vista Secure Edition

On the plus side, perhaps the "Home Basic Edition" will be missing all the components that make Windows on corporate networks so very dangerous.

But probably not.

Ultimate? PA..lease.

I'm also guessing that the home addition is only 12 gig, where the Ultimate is 50 gig or so.

Do your 12 and 50 gig numbers refer to the number of unchecked buffers or some other dimension?
