PermaLink Raymond Neeves' Intercept
Been using Intercept in production here for nearly two weeks and the results are extremely encouraging.

We now have the ability to:

  • Use any DNSBL as a black (reject), grey (tag) or white (accept) list, simultaneuosly. We are using the DNS accept list functionality in addition to a local list, to whitelist using Bonded Sender - more on that later.
  • Maintain a local list of blocked, tagged or accepted IP addresses
  • and a local list of blocked and tagged host names
  • thus being able to block large ranges of address space or groups of host names using a single local entry or DNSBL lookup
  • and then elect to accept (whitelist) email from a subset of those addresses

The overall ratios have not changed all that much (still over 50% spam and viruses here), but we are now able to be far more selective about whose email is welcome and this has further reduced the already small number of complaints about false positives here while not defeating my central architectural intent - to handle spam at the protocol level (the only scaleable spam solution).

Full stats for November, including whitelisting stats, posted here as usual around the first of next month.

Chris, I read your thread on 'Intercept' and from that it's not clear if it is available thjough it clearly once was. What's the current status? Thanks.
