While I do not believe my organization has moved forward with the use of SalesForce, their sales people have been good at getting people to "try" their software and it has consistently created help desk calls for "messing up" their Notes client. In the end we usually have to re-install Lotus Notes. If anyone knows the "perfect scenario" or "fix" for the SalesForce connector to Notes, please do share.
Sharing your pain...

We're moving to Salesforce and Notes 8.01 at the same time. Even though Salesforce promised that they would work together, they don't. They don't plan on making a Notes 8 connector till Summer '09. We'll most likely be buying http://www.linkpoint360.com/sfdc_features.aspx
For Salesforce to tout themselves as such a progressive company and their product to be so extensible, to have a 2 year lag in their development is , well, just lame.

I've been trying to encourage customers and partners who talk to Salesforce about Notes integration to drop my name into the conversation. IBM is ready and willing to help them with Notes 8 integration, and to help move that priority up.

I did that Ed, via the Lotusphere Idol
Still, it doesn't help us in the short term though.

They are pretty slow on the uptake. I don't think they realize that they are not just annoying current customers, but are losing future customers as well. Maybe they are wealthy enough to ignore the future.

So, no-one has it working?

At Lotusphere, we demonstrated a Notes 8.0 composite application integrated with mail and connecting to Salesforce.
We did it using the Portlet Factory and some web service magic (you have to login to one service then rewrite the connection on a second service with the server and session id returned from the first).
That approach worked, but is not nearly as nice as a direct connector, plugged right into sidebar widgets would be.

Not directly related, though was in a meeting with HP reps - showing off their next line of laptops.
Big new feature is QuickInfo applet that will run using Vista's non-boot mode. So you can check your calendar, email, etc without fully coming out of sleep or booting. Only supports Exchange -- sad.
I can see Note being behind for small industry specific apps - but salesforce.com, iPhone, HP... these should be pretty high on the list.
