PermaLink My first car
A while ago, I rediscovered a stack of old transparencies in the loft depicting family life in earlier, less troubled times.

As luck would have it, a friend of mine had recently purchased one of these new fangled devices that can acquire images from transparencies and negatives and make files suitable for manipulation by Photoshop or a similar program.

So I had him scan a selection of the trannies and there it rested... For nearly two years.

Well. Just rummaging through those scans today (my daughter needs childhood pictures of parents for a school project), I came across this. My first car. I seem to recall enjoying this car far more than any since despite the obvious lack of any of the additional toys I now consider mandatory (climate control, CD player, 'phone -- that sort of thing).

This picture is nearly 40 years old now but seems to have survived quite well. The image you see here, obviously scaled to suit a web browser display, is otherwise unmodified save a minor colour correction.

Just gotta love that Kodachrome.

That's an amazingly good photo. Looks like it was taken yesterday, except for the coat and the car... and the knees.

Yes. Never doubt the value of Kodachrome as an archival medium.

As for coat, car and knees -- well, you should see the snaps of my sisters in their fairy costumes. But I can't post those here. I want to live.
